New Year - New Beginning

Year 2013

We all make our new year resolutions to achieve/renew/define our old or new goals.  But what I did - was busy creating new ideas, some new prints and some new experiments for the coming year.  I put my hands on some carving and linoleum blocks.  The chisel and my creative mind started to navigate me on those blocks, carving some beautiful blocks.  Here are some pictures of such blocks and block-prints.

carved block - negative and positive spaces

Initially I was really confused with the negative and the positive spaces. Hence I had to fill up the design which has to stay and rest of the block has to be carved.  As always said, start with a small step and then take a leap.  I started carving on Linoleum block.  Linoleum takes much of your time and energy compared to speedball carving block.

My first effort to use my carved blocks with the textile colours.

 Experimenting with blocks & colours.

The month of January was busy preparing for the big exhibition in Zurich.  Ornaris  Zurich’13.  It offers a platform for the new and trending products.  They also support the new start-ups and upcoming small companies.  We were a part of it and this is how our stand was presented.

The flyers and promotional post cards...

It was a busy month and hope the coming months are busier than ever. Work keeps the mind sane which other gets rusted and devilish.  Don’t you all agree with it...?

See you all soon with interesting stuff about creativity, life or just with a cuppah of chai ;-)
